View from a Stopbank…..

The Stopbank is part of a system of them that run for many kilometers along side the Wairau River. A “braided” river, the Wairau is almost running dry at present with the water source running beneath the shingle bed. It is a mighty savage force to be reckoned with during flood events. Thus the need for a strong Stopbank system.
This view of a vineyard is looking southwest near the Selmes Road access to the Stopbank. I walked in the area this morning with my friend Lis.
