At the Ukrainian Christmas market
A crisp sunny morning, and a walk through town to the Ukrainian Christmas Market, hosted by the Millenium Gallery. Ruth and Eben joined us for part of the time, and then she caught the train the London while Eben came home for the afternoon with us (and beat me and Nik fair and square at Monopoly).
This is Nik, during a moment at the market when we were all enjoying some tasty Ukrainian snacks. A mushroom pancake for Eben; a poppy seed one for me; and savoury pierogis for Nik and Richard.
Nik has managed to catch up on sleep a bit, though I think he's still half on NZ time. In the 11 years since I last saw him in the flesh, rather than in videocalls, he has made a physical transition from youth to middle age... he is in his early 50s now. I wonder how R and I look to him!
The market had a good buzz about it and there were plenty of customers for food, Christmas decorations and other bits and pieces. I hope plenty of money has been raised for Ukrainian charities.
