A Really Big Shoe!
This shoe was displayed outside an old firehouse museum in the town of Haverhill, Massachusetts. My daughter and I were on our way to visit my grandkids and stopped to pick up a couple of pizzas to bring with us. We stepped outside while the pizzas were being made and took notice of this big shoe. Excited for an interesting blip, I took a few shots before we were off to see the kids. I was telling my daughter the story of Haverhill and that years ago it was a shoe manufacturing town. I also told her about her greatgrandfather and her grandfather (my dad) and how they came to America and settled in haverhill and were true shoemakers in their time. When I was a little girl, my dad had a shoestore and did shoe repairs into the late 1950's. I guess Haverhill is reviving their history. This website about Haverhill and shoes shows a whole collection of these statuesque shoes designed by local artists and are displayed all over town. I was fascinated and thought it would be of interest to all my blip friends. Needless to say, the shoe trumped the grandkids, but only in blipville as my time with them was fantastic as always.
Today was a lovely day. We had some scattered showers on our way there and some heavier rain on the way home, but nothing could rain on my parade today!
