Red-tailed hawk
Saturday
Two steps forward, one step back- that’s how I felt this morning. Despite going to bed at a reasonable time, I wasn’t able to get to sleep until gone 3am, but at the same time I didn’t have the energy to go downstairs and try to read. I’m pretty sure my fever had come back too. So it took me longer to get going than yesterday. However I really felt I wanted to get out for some fresh air, and it was a sunny morning, but clouds were moving in later, so we both went out for a walk around Pioneer Park. We hadn’t been walking far when I spotted something up in a tree - at first I wasn’t sure if it was a large left over leaf, or a piece of wind blown litter, but as I got closer I could see it was a hawk, perched high in a tree, surveying his surroundings. He didn’t seem at all perturbed by our presence below, and I managed to get several shots. Then he did fly off, but only to another nearby branch, affording me some more shots. I’ve added a couple of extra shots in extras.
When we got back I started receiving photos from Laura - today, she and Liam are looking at several possible outdoor venues for their wedding in early autumn/Fall. All Liam’s family and friends live up there, whereas ours and hers, other than her recent acquaintance in Wisconsin, are scattered around the country and world! So those that will come will be flying in anyway, therefore it makes sense to have the wedding up there. She also called, and started talking about them, but then they entered a bad signal area, so we had to adjourn.
Later in the afternoon, our daughter Jen called - she and Jason are having a short break in Miami Florida, using up some Sky miles she got from a flight she had to cancel earlier in the year. So lots of family chat today, but other than that not much accomplished again!
Praying for a better nights sleep, and no fever tonight!
