From Raggs, riches
The Reverend Canon Raggs preaching at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
A small woman priest speaks from a pulpit high above the congregation
amid the many distractions of the cathedral - gleaming organ pipes,
carved wood, shining crucifix, blazing candles, stained-glass windows....
Added to that, the Gospel lesson is the Lord's Prayer,
which the preacher has preached upon and taught about numerous times,
though not as often as the congregation has sat through it.
Yet Raggs, speaking plainly in a clear well-paced voice,
held our attention with her linguistic expertise
and offered us a fresh view of this text.
When it came time later in the service to recite the Lord's Prayer,
I think we all spoke the familiar words with new appreciation.
I know I did.

PHOTOGRAPHY NOTE
Please excuse the fuzzy capture, caused by a combination of low lighting,
limitations of iPhone digital zoom, and shaky hand of the photographer.
iPhoto fiddling couldn't sharpen the picture much.
One of these days I will set down my iPhone and start using a real camera.
But I'm sort of like Linus with his blanket - it's awfully hard to let go.
