An osteospermum flowering late amongst grasses
I’ve been rather stuck at home this week as we’ve had work done on the house’s gutters. The initial estimate from ground level was straightforward and much as I’d imagined. The reality when it began was more worrisome, but it did better explain why there was some damp appearing on a walls roof. Having accepted the need for extra work and the cost, the remedial work began and is now complete. I am very relieved as it had been a worry for some time.
The workforce comprised three men; dad and two of his four sons. His two daughters aren’t interested in being builders. I’ve been very pleased with their attitude, their skills and the results.
W. and his eldest son were particularly interested in the bird life we have visiting our garden and often pointed out when a small flock of long-tailed tits appeared or any of the birds to be honest. They similarly indulge the birds in their garden near Gloucester.
After they left I spotted this osteospermum flower which shone brightly in the rather dull light in the garden towards dusk. I hadn’t realised that they are semi perennial and can be over wintered. I didn’t expect that would include flowering in December. What a treat. It prompted me to try out my older macro lens on the new mirrorless camera for the first time. I think I’ll do some more experimenting.
