Homeward
Just passing through Canary Wharf on my way to Paddington, to catch the train home.
Had a really good sleep last night, and a lovely relaxed morning in my hotel room. I didn't have to check out until 12pm, so I had a fairly leisurely get-up, and then did an hour of work at the little desk in my room. I tried calling my friend Lizzie on my way through Canary Wharf, just in case she happened to be free for a quick hello - but she was busy. It turned out to be just as well, as when I got to Paddington (early for once), I discovered my train had been cancelled from there and was now starting from Reading, so I had to get on the first train to Reading. Picked up a quick wrap at M&S first, so ate my lunch on the train.
The train from Reading was delayed (waiting for crew and passengers - maybe I didn't need to have rushed onto the first train after all), which meant that I missed my connecting train at Exeter. Had to wait for an hour for the next one, and then had to stand all the way back to Barnstaple (another hour plus). So glad to get back and see Tim waiting for me at the station, and then to be whisked back home - and cooked dinner for :)
