Sheffield, Trading Route, James

In the end, we both went across to see Abi, this morning. Although we had to work from her bedside, I think she appreciated the company nonetheless. As ever, she was on good form.

We left early enough to drive home while it was still light: it's so dull going over Snake Pass in the dark. And I managed to sneak a run in, although it was dark by the time I got back.

And in the evening we went for a bite at a new place called Trading Route, whose slogan is 'Cold beer. Hot chicken'*. Unfortunately, they had run out of chicken *eye roll*

After that we went to Factory to see the film of James 'Live At The Acropolis', which was rather good. It was the band playing at that venue with a choir and orchestra, and it was very effective (although a little slow for me).

It was followed by a Q&A with the director, Chris Atkins, the arranger, Joe Duddell, as well as Tim Booth, Jim Glennie, and Chloe Alper from the band. I usually find those things cringy, especially the questions from the audience, but this was actually very good.

Finally, today's Extra: not one taken by me, I must confess, but it shows the devastation wreaked on Kirkby Lonsdale by Sunday's fire.

* For what it's worth, I think 'Hot chicken. Cold beer' would work better.
