The accidental finding

Stars

One of these is the second willow star I made yesterday at the museum, and the red one is the 'starlight' lampshade I bought  at the Christmas market in Germany last year.

Today I worked at the town surgery, as usual. It was full on, and no one talks to me much, but I got a lot done. Bussed home, watched the news, went out again shortly afterwards to watch a screening at the Co-housing site of a play by George Farquhar, entitled The Beaux' Stratagem. This was his last play, performed first in 1707. It was a very jolly romp, with music and dancing and dastardly plotting and romancing. Although my mother often used the phrase 'Restoration comedy' I realise I had never seen one before, from beginning to end. Or maybe I had, but I didn't realise that was what it was ('restoration' refers to the restoration of the British monarchy, following the Glorious Revolution and the Civil war of the 1680s and beyond).

All well and good. I even found my missing library book when I got home! It was hiding under a basket full of jumpers. I have too many books! I also found my Christmas jumper. Apparently it is needed for later in the week.

The only blot on the landscape is hearing via email that an old acquaintance of mine ( she is 91) is poorly: cancer suspected. I must drop her off a card next time I pass by.
