Well I suppose it is the Silly Season.

We had to make a quick trip to Sydney (and back) today. 
It registered 42.5C in the car going through the western suburbs, not that we noticed with the air conditioning on. That's hot, but I was visiting my parents in Dubbo some years ago and it was 44C. I decided that was my limit.
The southerly buster has arrived and it's now very pleasant. 
Forecast 18C for Blackheath tomorrow. Hopefully the house will still be hot enough to not need the heaters on.
