Memories of rain

My 2025 calendar arrived and I had to smile when I saw this page. 


For our calendar, which hangs in the kitchen, I like to have for each month a picture of something we did in the previous year. I like it to follow the same idea that I try to keep to for Blip - one moment/one picture. Pretty pictures/landscapes are not my thing anyway, I like pictures that tell a story. 

So I gather possible photos for each month and we both agree which ones to use. I had a few for June but we both immediately knew it had to be this one, taken at the Border’s Book Festival in Melrose. The picture tells such a story - it was so wet, the grassy area should have been full of people and it wasn’t, it was very difficult eating a take-away whilst holding an umbrella, we met some lovely people as we waited in the rain to get into the tent for a talk. And yet we have memories of a great few days. Maybe if we go next year it might not rain.
