Usnea lichens
A dull grey day with a cold wind blowing and rather limited photographic opportunities. I took another load of storm damaged branches to the local recycling centre and then set about pruning our two wisterias. On my walk with the spaniel I discovered this lovely fruticose lichen which had probably come down in the storm. I don't know much about lichens but I believe this is an Usnea species, probably Usnea florida with its interesting disc-like apothecia - the spore releasing structures - on top of the lichen.
