PAOTY

I was a bit slow to get up despite having had a good sleep, so had to go pretty much straight down to the station for the Glasgow train. Although I took my notebooks with the various lists with me I ended up just listening to more of my audiobook The Bookbinder of Jericho which has me gripped.
It was wet and miserable when I arrived in Glasgow but luckily not too windy so I could use my umbrella and then went straight into the meeting with RR and LD. Thankfully it went smoothly and we seemed to reach agreement on next steps fairly straightforwardly.
From there I went to the cafe to collect some (very hot!) French onion soup and chatted for a while to H&L about China, Christmas plans, kitchen renovations and summer schools.
Catch up with VG to plan the next Board meeting and talk KPIs (again!) as well as family news and dealing with tricky stuff, then down to the station for the trip home and more audiobook listening.
I walked down to the Portrait Gallery as I had a little time to kill before the reception and was interested to see the Portrait Artist of the Year winner’s portrait of Lorraine Kelly. Whilst it retained the artist’s signature free and colourful brushstrokes, it was a better likeness and more complete than the ones he did during the competition. It looked good in the main hall with its lovely decorations.
Back to the reception for the proposed concert hall, with a bit of briefing time with JM first. Lots of chat with fellow Trustees and guests, with some tasty canapés (will have to pass for supper tonight!) and a couple of people I chatted to were super friendly which felt nice.
Finally set off up the hill in more wind but less rain…and not too cold. Chatted briefly to T on his way home from Liverpool after a couple of days there…he sounded tired and yet has to work tonight. Rather him than me!
