Sullivan's Pond
Since the wifi is included in my rent here I had the modem and cable box from the old place to return to Eastlink. Normally the equipment has to be mailed back to them and when I called them last week they told me to put it in a box and take it to a postal outlet. I checked with the postal outlet and they told me they are accepting prepaid packages, but it would still sit there as Canada Post has been on strike for the past month. As it happened, they were ordered back to work, starting at 8 am today. I went to the store in the mall so they could print off a shipping label, only to be told at the store that they have been accepting them at the store and sending them to the warehouse. The company really needs to get their act together and make sure that the right hand knows what the left hand is doing.
I also had to return a PVR for my friend who had the stroke in September. She deals with a different company that also has a store in the mall. She has been having a problem with her bill too, for some reason she made an extra payment. I talked to the rep at the store, and he wrote down the number for her to call, so she can get her bill lowered.
After the stop at the mall I went for a walk at Sullivan's Pond. I managed to get around it before the rain started.
Since Marilyn had her stroke, she has not been driving. Her handyman tried to start the car for her a couple of weeks ago, but the battery was dead. Today I had her call CAA to have them come over and get it started. The battery was 4 years old, so it needed to be replaced. CAA does that on the spot. After they replaced the battery, I took it out for a 20 minute drive, and I will do that once a week until Marilyn can start driving again. I am more concerned about her cognitive ability than her physical ability to start driving again.
Progress is being made on the new front entranceway. The roof still needs shingles and the railing needs to be done and some siding along the front of the house needs to be replaced. As of today I have an outside light now. That will make it easier when I am out in the evening. It has been dark trying to see the lock to unlock the door. The owner has some motion sensor lights coming too, and they will be installed at the front of the house and one for the side.
