Machu Picchu!

Today we were woken up at 3.45am to get packed and have breakfast before queuing for the final checkpoint before Machu Picchu. After it opened at 5.30am, we had an hour long walk to get to the Sun Gate to see the sun hitting Machu Picchu over the mountains. It was a beautiful sight! We then continued on and had a walking tour around the site, before spending a few more hours wandering around. It's a huge place, with lots of water fountains, agricultural terraces that drain perfectly, houses, astronomical features, sundials and llamas! We went to the Inca bridge as well, which is build on a steep cliff and must be quite high! All in all a good day.

We were very smelly after four days of not washing though and got back to the hotel in Cusco at around 7pm after a train and two buses. Lunch was pizza and dinner was overpriced!
