Having heard on the news last night that the Lake District Safari Park is to close for good at the end of the year, I went for one last look around before it goes.  The Park has received a lot of criticism in the past from animal welfare groups, and I would always prefer to see animals that are truly wild and in their natural setting, but most of the animals here do at least get room for some exercise and are not constrained to a small cage.  With the demise of many zoos and wildlife parks it will mean in the future that only those who can afford the high cost of travel to far off places will be able to see these animals.
There is no charge for entry during these final days.
