Bear Quilt at Traditions / Tyrone in the Rain
It was a travel day, as we had made plans to drive to Martinsburg to celebrate Christmas with family. Rain was expected in the forecast, but it held off for our drive down. We got a dozen drops; no biggie.
We enjoyed a nice lunch at Traditions, and there are some really lovely quilts on display there. I was quite taken with this one, above, which features a little bear hanging out with monarch butterflies. Hello, little bear; hanging out with butterflies is a hobby that I too enjoy.
In the afternoon, we exchanged gifts and sat around talking. And then my husband and I set out for home. It was not raining in Martinsburg yet, but within minutes, we had driven into the heart of the storm. Hey, at least it was rain and not snow.
We drove home - or rather, my husband did - through a heavy downpour, which was no fun at all. There was quite a display of mist on the hills, though it resisted my attempts to capture it with my camera.
My husband wanted to stop in Tyrone to get hoagies for later at Mac's, and so we did that. As he went in and ordered, I took some reverse pointillist photos of my street view using the raindrops on the windows, impressionist style. You may see one of those fun shots in the extras.
Now, oddly enough, I dreamed of bears after seeing this quilt. In my last dream, a large bear was nosing around my waist pack, looking for something good to eat. Nothing in there but a few crackers and maybe a snack bar, if you're lucky.
And then a small bear, just like this one on the quilt, was discovered napping under my bed. I took one look at that quilt and I dreamed of bears. How many bears would I actually dream of if I slept UNDER that quilt?
I have two photos so here are two soundtrack songs. First, for my bear quilt and the related dreams, here is Roy Orbison, with Dreams. (I've come back to add an additional gorgeous rendition from A Black and White Night.) Second, for my pointillist rainscape, here is Led Zeppelin, with The Rain Song.
