Black Pond on a sunny day

I slept better last night, I am slowly managing more hours every night so hopefully getting over the jet lag and I hope I will soon be back to sleeping normal hours.

This morning I was up early and decided to get to the supermarket before walking Xena, to avoid the busy Christmas crowds. Well, to my surprise it was so quiet - even when I left at 10am there was still no one about, and there was lots of parking, all quite unusual for this time of year. Possibly everyone is waiting for next week when the shops will be manic on Monday morning. I bought as much as I could for the weekend and Christmas, but I will still have to get some bits and pieces of fresh supplies next week.

I had a most enjoyable walk in the woods in the sunshine - what joy to have sunshine and blue skies today, so it had to be my blip today, as days like these are too rare lately. Global warming seems to have made our winters grey and wet instead of the cold and sunny days I remember.

Yesterday afternoon when I was leaving the woods with Xena after our walk, a small dog - something like a Maltese - came rushing up to Xena and went for her. I turned around to see the dog launching itself at Xena who tried to scuttle away, the owner of course did nothing as small dogs seem to be exempt from all rules of manners and good behaviour. There is a woman in our woods with seven little dogs, not sure of the breed but they are tiny, and they are the same, always barking at Xena. I don't know what it is about small dogs but Xena now understandably does not like them. Anyway last night when I was sitting on the sofa watching TV and Xena was sitting next to me, I noticed she had a rather large 'hole' in her leg, about the size of a 10p coin and it had the skin ripped off and was red and bloody. I can only think this happened when she had that encounter with the small dog yesterday. I cleaned it up and have been putting Sudocrem on it, and today it looks fine but I need to watch it does not get infected.

Tonight will be another night of trying to catch up on all the TV that I have missed, I am currently watching The Listeners. When I was away I downloaded Black Dove which I enjoyed watching even though it was pretty unbelievable at times.
