Trying to solve a
problem can cause some other
problem to arise
~carliewired
I was up having my coffee by 7:30 before the sun appeared over the mountains. I wouldn't have thought I had really overdone it with my cranky feet yesterday, but apparently I did. They don't want to go anywhere or do anything today.
I tossed a load of laundry into the washer and turned my attention to the problem with my hummingbird feeder. Last season I constantly battled with woodpeckers who wanted to help themselves to the feeder. They somehow contaminate it leaving debris floating in it. It soon turns foul. I empty, wash, sanitize and refill it every three days, It wouldn't make two days with the woodpeckers' interference.
My painting buddy at home sent me off with this metal cage that she said I should place over my hummingbird feeder. The bottom of the cage is open so I had to decide how best to secure it, yet allow me to access it easily.
I bought a jar of smallish bungee cords at the marketplace last time I was there. I've used my small table for the support underneath the feeder. The bungee cords anchor each corner to the wire cage.
I have no idea if our local hummingbirds will even give this a second glance. I don't know if they will be willing to slide into this cage to sip at the feeder. This plan may well be as successful as my clothesline repair of last year, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I will be pegging up my laundry shortly, then that's it for the efforts today. It will be feet up in the recliner.
