All Lit Up
We decorated the tree today. I can’t remember the last time just hubby and I did it. But I hope it will become a new tradition for us. We had carols playing and reminisced about all the memories each ornament evoked. That is what we collect when we travel. We put the rec room back in order and put the gifts under and around the tree. Tomorrow, I will put the stockings together and decorate the rest of the house after dusting and vacuuming. We have our Knights’ Christmas party tonight. My gift donation is a Nativity silhouette. It is 24” long so finding a box to wrap it in was a task. I found one long enough but it wasn’t tall enough for the star. Hubby and I converted the rectangular box into a triangle and it fit perfectly. Parker is always complaining about the practical use of math. I sent him pics of the conversion and necessary cuts. He enjoyed my note. But the measuring, cutting and taping ate up precious minutes in our day. Note to self: buy a bottle of wine and wine bag next year. After lunch, I put two pumpkin pies in the oven. Sure hope I like the new organic Pumpkin Pie spice. The store was out of my regular kind. It smells heavy with cloves. My sister and BIL are bringing an apple crisp. She sent me a photo. Yum. She will pick up whipped topping for both desserts. This home belongs to my children’s cousin. Like her parents, her home and property always look pristine. While I was taking the photo, Parker drove by and stopped to show me a gadget he bought for his father’s truck to improve gas mileage. Sure hope it doesn’t affect its computer operation. I was so focused on not getting hit by an oncoming car that I forgot to use the night setting. Dang! There are so many beautifully decorated homes along our route. Sending wishes that you can enjoy the beauty of the holiday season. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. “The outdoor Christmas lights, green and red and gold and blue and twinkling, remind me that most people are that way all year round--kind, generous, friendly and with an occasional moment of ecstasy. But Christmas is the only time they dare reveal themselves. “ - Harland Miller
