Fragility and Vulnerability
Highlight of the day was a Christmas Blipmeet, hosted by the two in my thumbnail, Rainette and her husband. Loads of delicious food and drink, and every corner of the house so beautifully decorated. This group selfie was taken by my daughter, mishkid, for me - hard to fit everyone in. Even my Blip mother, Hamp5on in Ibiza, was there, on Sally's phone.
Finished Orbital, by Samantha Harvey, what an amazing book, winner of the Booker prize 2024, here the lowdown on it. A short book, but you can't read it quickly, so much to take in. Makes you love our beautiful planet anew. Very highly recommended.
Mary's Voice: On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus... (Luke 2v21)
... an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him. (Matthew 2v13)
Jesus was born into the fragility, vulnerability and upheaval of our world, and he didn't shield himself from it.
