The Tale of Two Rabbits
Herein lies a tale, as told by my Mum's twin sister today, when we visited her in Heanor, Derbyshire. She and my Mum were both given a Denby rabbit (known as Marmadukes) when they were little girls (must have been when they were first made, in the 1930's); hers was blue and Mum's was green (my Mum's favourite colour). One day, climbing down the steps into their grandad's garden, my Mum dropped the box they were in, and one broke - it was A Helen's! So A Helen got to keep the green one - and here it still is.
Recently, she got to visit the Denby factory (after she moved to this Home here in Derbyshire), and saw they were making the very same rabbits, so she, at last, got a blue one again - for £40.
(A Helen reads my Blips, and will definitely tell me if I got anything wrong in this tale.)
Mary's Voice: (Zechariah's Benedictus)
Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
because he has come to his people and redeemed them...
because of the tender mercy of our God...
To guide our feet into the path of peace.
(Luke 1v67-79)
Amen, come Lord Jesus, and be our Prince of Peace!
