Very Silly

I remembered to make a Christmas cake last week and today I iced it. 
As you can see I am not skilled at decorating but I had some icing left over so had a go. 
It makes a good candidate for Silly Saturday and no doubt the kids will enjoy eating the sugary bits. But next year I will revert to my usual plain white and leave the masterpieces to davidc.

On another culinary note, Mum always used to say my sponge cakes were "good enough for a trifle". Well she wouldn't have been so complimentary about today's effort. 
Still, there's not a lot a generous half cup of sherry and homemade custard won't resurrect.

Helen and Omar were coming today but Ayman ended up in hospital with croup last night and although much better will stay in tonight for observation. He timed it well. Has been inundated with donated toys, it being Christmas. 
Hopefully they will still be able to get here for the family gathering on Monday.
