At the Red Brick indoor market
In search of a couple of small last-minute presents, Nik and Richard and I went to the indoor market I'd spotted the other day when photographing murals - the Red Brick market. It's next door to the cafe and mural that I blipped last Monday.
The main shows one of the stranger arrays of items on display. Vintage dolls can be really creepy. However, we did find an excellent secondhand doll's house for the daughter of one of Richard's band mates, and also a small plant for another friend. Best of all the cafe next door - Kilnfolk - proved to be excellent, and it was busy too.
I do wonder how the market will do in the future, though. It's heavily focused on 'vintage' and craft items, with a sprinkling of printed t shirts and hoodies too. There is some interesting work by local artists but there's also an almost overwhelming amount of tat. It's a brave effort, but I'm not sure that this particular mix will be enough to keep it afloat.
