My thanks to everyone for their support yesterday. We have drifted through today in a veil of tears. Alfie's sudden passing has hit me so hard I'm not able to think or act clearly. I see him everywhere. After more than 5,000 days when he was always at my side I'm left with a huge hole and no sense of direction. I wrapped him in a blanket and buried him in the orchard. We've donated all his food and other things to a dog rescue centre. On the way back we bought a new plum tree to plant in the orchard.
