Winter Solstice
Today, Saturday 21 December is the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. This is the shortest day of the year but frankly it could have been any of the recent days as we've had leaden skies, rain and strong winds to contend with!
Pictured is a ceramic pomegranate, bought by me in the Summer in Positano and placed on the nature themed tree. The pomegranate has significance in many countries of the Middle East and in Persia, on Yalda Night (the longest night of the year) pomegranates were eaten, symbolising the victory of light over dark.
