White Lady, Samlesbury Hall
This is the White Lady from the Ghost Room at Samlesbury Hall, between Blackburn and Preston. We went there with son and family to meet daughter and family. We had tour of the house, a waffle, and time on the play area outside.
The White Lady is thought to be the ghost of Lady Dorothy Southworth who lived at the Hall during the seventeenth century. Her family were staunch Catholics but Dorothy fell in love with a neighbour who happened to be a Protestant. He was killed as they were going to elope and she was sent to a convent in France in disgrace.
As a result she haunts the Hall! My Blip is from the recently opened Ghost Room, and is definitely not a portrait of the real woman. The extra shows part of the hall.
