Truck and tractor run
It's been a jobs day today. The last job of the staircase is to put a handrail back up on the stairs. I thought it was going to be fairly straightforward but what DIY ever is? I was in charge of measuring the centre of the patrices which P then drilled, I also measured the height and marked out where the patrices would be placed and then painted them. P sawed the excess off the rail and drilled some pilot holes and that was about all we could do until the paint dried.
I suggested getting out an having a walk in Lanark, but when we got to the car we realised that is was blowing a hoolie and wasn't walking weather, so it was back inside to wrap Christmas presents and so a second coat of paint on the patrices. Whilst getting the presents out from the back room, we heard a cacophony of horns and realised that there was a truck and tractor run going past on the road, so I grabbed my camera and ran out to get some shots. There was a good fifteen minutes of trucks, tractors and vans which went past!
P made tea, then I nipped down to Cairn Lodge to get some Christmas wine and now it's time for a shower and the final coat for the patrices so we can hopefully install the bannister tomorrow!
