Christmas Cake!
For those who may be unfamiliar with this tradition, it has become the norm for at least one of our (grown-up) offspring to decorate our Christmas cake. This year the responsibility fell on Son#2 and his partner who are visiting us from their home in Bath.
The story is probably a little less complicated than at times in the past. Seemingly there's been a serious flood at Christmas so everyone is trying to get to higher ground. Fortunately the snowman is already there otherwise he'd melt in the water, and Saint Nicholas is there too directing others to join him. On the left you can see Robin Hood making his way up along with a family in a boat. On the right is Blackbeard in his pirate ship. King Alfred the Great is making his way up the slope in the centre with his little entourage.
(I assure you that neither our son nor his partner had partaken of any intoxicating substance at the time of designing this scene.)
I hope everyone has had/is having a great Christmas. Many thanks to all those who have wished us well. We've had a lovely day with visits from Son#3, his fiancee and Grandson A and a video call with Son#1, his wife and Grandson P in Ontario.
