For Aimee

It was always going to be a strange one but we were all determined to make the best of things.  I had invited C&D round for drinks as M&A were visiting for Christmas.  Lovely that M is No.2's oldest friend - they met at playgroup when they were around 4 years old.  Sadly M's mum died when he was 4 1/2 ........she had leukemia and was around the same age as Aimee.  Batty Nana (Helen's Mum) played a big part in child care and she was also down for Christmas and came for drinks and it was lovely to see her too - must be over 20 years since I have seen her.

Dinner was a bit delayed and after a few glasses of bubbles and sausage rolls and blinis, I was a bit cba - but it all came together and was tasty.  I was pleased with sausage rolls and added some chorizo to the sausage meat and they went down really well and will make some more for football tomorrow.

We toasted Aimee's health and I gave No.2 a couple of books from her shelf (which my Dad had re-bound - one was the complete works of Shakespeare - dated 1892....goodness knows where it came from?). I also found a gift tag which Aimee had written years ago (I keep them all) and just crossed out the Dear Mum and changed it to Dear Samuel and he was touched.

Wallace and Gromit and Gavin and Stacy ended the day which was ok after all.

Remembering my lovely Aimee who would have been with us this Christmas - they always took it in turns and it was our turn. xxxxxx
