Christmas Day Walk
Spent a beautiful day with family in Fort Worth and afterwards in Hurst.
Josiah and Clelyn have been staying with us since last Sunday and Daniel joined us for the day.
We had a leisurely morning sharing gifts and edible goodies such as mince pies (the British sweet kind) and Stollen (a German marzipan filled fruit bread) washed down with some wonderful Christmas blend BG coffee.
Then one of David’s delicious meals at midday - Christmas dinner of wild caught salmon, asparagus with Bernaise sauce and herbed new potatoes. Dessert was “Rabitos Royale” - a Spanish delicacy of chocolate covered figs with a chocolate truffle brandy filling!
After this feast we needed a walk! It was a perfect day for a walk, even though cloudy, it wasn’t too cold and not windy.
This blip was taken of a serene view of the river with an old abandoned power plant on the right, which is poetically described in the local paper:
“On the banks of the Trinity River, a cornerstone of Fort Worth's utility history sits abandoned, awaiting its next generation -- or possible destruction… years of neglect have damaged the building. Windows are scattered, the roof leaks, and the interior beams are rusted.”
Later on we drove over to our other son’s house for a continuation of our Christmas Eve celebration together from the day before of games, Karaoke and old family movies and other delights for the evening.
