A steep walk down the mountain

After yesterday's non-stop rain the air was clear and fresh and the sun was shining again. We took a gondola up the mountain and walked down on the mountain side leading into Davos - it was very steep and I could feel it in my knees. The boys were almost running down and were very impatient every time I stopped to take photographs. Not only is Davos host to the World Economic Forum, but at 1,560 m (5,120 ft), it is the highest city in Europe. (Hardly a city...more a town I would say)

We walked down the mountain at such a pace and I missed many photo opportunities along the way - think I will need to do this walk again on my own with different lenses, because the wild flowers were spectacular and I wished I had my macro lens with me.

This is a view over Davos Lake and the town beyond that.

We caught a train back from Davos. Our coach was full of Hasidic Jewish families, for some reason they love to holiday here every summer which seems a strange place - a country where much pork is eaten and holiday pursuits are mainly sporty activities, which by nature of their restrictive clothing I imagine they cannot do. I so wanted to take some photos of this lovely young married couple, he was very handsome in his traditional dress and had the most amazing curly long side burns - but I was too much of a wimp to ask in case I offended them in any way. For those of you who do not know what I am talking about, these are the long curly side-burns
