On This Day

Goldfinch

For some reason I was keen to blip a bird today. This was the most exciting garden bird. I saw a pair,  as well as a number of bluetits, sparrows, dunnocks and starling. Also a flock of herring gulls high overhead and some geese. Nothing too remarkable but a goldfinch is always good to see.

Yesterday's party went well. I think the food was enjoyed. There is some left over for today. The cake was a success - I added an extra to yesterday's blip. It came out of the tin perfectly and didn't disintegrate when it was cut. The home made crackers were fun and chocolate pennies and Santas were consumed. I went to bed very early!

Thanks for all the concern about Flora. She has an ulcer on her cornea, probably caused by charging about under shrubs, bushes and general undergrowth. She has two sets of eye drops and an oral medicine. She goes back to the vet next week. Poor dog.

We had a quiet start to the day and went for a flat walk. I've since spent some time in the garden. It's so very mild. Although it's only 28/12 I've quietly started to put away some of the Christmas stuff. I'll leave some in place till after New Year but there are things which can now be stashed away for next year.
