Frunk

A few weeks ago I blipped a photo of my BMW EV's engine compartment without its cover.

Today I got my 'Frunk' (front trunk) from an Austrian company that specialises in these after market accessories.  BMW don't do one.

It takes the place of the pop-off cover & is similarly popped-on in seconds & holds all the many cables I have plus a few more bits & pieces. I have cables & adapters to cope with anything from a normal 230V household plug, through larger camping ground blue plug to both 16A and 32A 3-phase adapters allowing up to 22kWh AC charging (my BMW has 22kWh capacity system, normal is 11kWh).

One actually hardly ever needs these cables except maybe in a town situation where using pavement chargers. I have only needed them once a year when on longer road trips far from home. And it is on these occasions when the boot is packed with suitcases that you don't want to be unloading it all to get to the cables stored under the boot floor and then possibly have to put it back afterwards dirty if it's been raining. Nice touch & removing it once every two years when going for BMW service only takes 5 seconds. And as I've found out, the contents are completely water and dust proof.

The frunks are available for a large number of EV makes & models including MH, Fiat, Kia, Hyundai, VW/VAG.
