Fulmars At The Gate
We took a trip to Kingsgate in Kent. It is a tiny sandy cove, known for its very own version of the famous Durdle Door. Honestly, look it up - they could be twins.
While Mr K and my sister were pointing their lenses at this fascinating pile of chalk, and Jak was seeking a tunnel through to Australia in the sand, I studied the many little holes in the cliffs. The closer I looked, the more I realised they were inhabited. At first I thought they were gulls but closer inspection, and a fair bit of research, made me realise they are actually fulmars of the pestrel family. That's another satisfying tick off the list on my hunt for different species.
