Do You Hear The People Sing

A trip to Manchester this afternoon to see Les Miserables in concert at the AO Arena, as part of the world arena tour. Technically, this was last year’s Xmas present to ourselves as I bought the tickets in October 2023. But, as we only got each other a book this Christmas, I think we can count it again!
And what an excellent concert it was. It’s my favourite musical anyway, and the stellar cast (Michael Ball, Jac Yarrow, Bonnie Langford & Gavin Lee to name but a few) was just the icing on the cake. We saw the original staged concert in London in 2019, and this was very much in the same vein but obviously to a much bigger audience.
The only noticeable absence from the all star cast was Alfie Boe, but this did not detract from our enjoyment, because his understudy (Daniel Koek) was absolutely superb in the role of Jean Valjean.
And the added bonus of attending an afternoon performance is that we were home in time for tea!
