Bird Shower

I had all sorts of home things to do today, but having been cooped up in a car for much of yesterday, and needing some exercise and fresh air, I decided on a local excursion to Pennington Flash this morning.

It’s some time since I’ve been, and all the improvements and changes are now complete. It was very busy, on a betwixtmas day which started with a clear blue sky everyone had had the same idea.

The image is of a female goosander. She was doing a lot of preening, and occasionally had a big all-over splashing session. A bird who was keen to keep herself in tip-top condition.
