Whereas in Great Britain we associate big cleaning time with Spring, in Japan it is associated with the end of the year. The most important part of the "o-o souji" (Big Clean) is susuharai, or "dust cleaning." It is a tradition we always observe in our household, we did it today and we will probably do some more tomorrow.

R2-D2 certainly appreciated his dusting, and my drawers are a lot lighter after disposing of many unnecessary items.
