At last…..

…….the rich fruit cake has been given a blanket of marzipan, followed by a duvet of royal icing, turning it into a Christmas cake, just three days after Christmas Day and today we each had our first slice with a delicious cup of coffee produced by Nick. We have judged the cake to be “okay”, but I don’t think I will be using that recipe again.
In the evening, we had an hour-long video call with our niece and her husband (and the dogs) who now live in British Columbia. It was great to exchange all our news and good to see that they seem very happy and settled where they are.
