It doesn't feel like Monday
Blue sky and some sunshine today! What a difference. Towels dried outside.
I walked to Asda to get a new kettle. The one we had was still working and under guarantee (had it 16 months) but it was looking worse for wear or perhaps I should say it was past its best and since kettles are fairly reasonable in price I thought stuff it, I'm having a new one.
There was a very similar one to our old one with a nice iridescent colour while boiling (£23) but I opted for a colour changing one for £17. It goes through several different colours as it heats up and it may be a bit childish but I like things like this ! Anyway, it's a good kettle, fast boil, one cup option, reasonably priced and looks nice. The older one is in the bin. Asda was very busy and so were the roads. There was a problem with the 89 bus home again - app said it was 34 minutes till the next one and they are supposed to be every 20 minutes. The app was probably wrong but I didn't want to do the walking distance to the bus stop to find I had to stand there half an hour so I asked Terry to pick me up and walked part way to meet him at a good place to stop since it was very busy near Asda.
We are thinking we need to change our kitchen next year (the thought of it makes me shudder) as our kitchen is a good way past its best since it was installed 25 years ago. It has done very well, really lasted but it's time to go. We are thinking to leave the cupboards in place, change worktops, doors etc but Terry also wants to replace the flooring and I'd like to get rid of the integrated fridge/freezer in favour of room for a free standing one - but this adds to the work so we'll see. I'd never have had an integrated one if I'd known the pitfalls ie a pain to install a replacement, limited choice of replacements, pay far more for an integrated one than a freestanding one.
Neighbour put household waste bin (with lid unable to close as rammed full )out yesterday afternoon for collection today and beside it three bags of rubbish, also some recycling, completely blocking the pavement so you had to walk in the road to pass. The worst thing is that the bin was not due for collection today and if they don't take it back in it will be there for another week! Their glass recycling black box didn't get emptied - I presume because it was behind the black bin bags and probably looked like another bag to the binmen. All this is still sitting there now at almost 6pm. I wondered if I should tell her the bins are not due till next Monday - but she must know! After she put her bin out several other people put theirs out as well - I despair with the sheep in this avenue!
It was quite mild today and really cheered you up to see some blue sky and sunshine after so many grey days.
A lot of neighbours have taken their Christmas lights and decs down (some did it on Boxing Day) but we leave ours up till after New Years Day as we've always done.
