Trixie's Adventures

By TrixieTheCollie

Almost the end of 2024

We cannot believe how busy it is in St Ives atm. It's like the whole world is gearing up to spend NY here. I went down to the beach for my walk this morning before it got properly light so there were only a few people there. However, by the time I was trekking around town, it was like everyone had woken up, thrown their dry-robes over their new tartan Christmas PJs and were wandering around town, cup of coffee in hand.

And dogs?.............................. OMG?! There are zillions of dogs here. Gone are the days when holiday lets did not allow dogs in. Everyone brings their dogs on holiday now which Ann would obviously do if she went on holiday but seriously.................. no one has just one dog anymore??!! Everyone has at least two, but quite often three. The holiday let next door to us, has three Labradors, plus at least three kids??!! That's in a small 2-bed, one bathroom house, with only a living room/kitchen. …..............But still they try to cram people in.

…................And don't even get my human started on the lack of brains that holiday makers have. Today when I came back from a little play in the field, before Ann went to work............... she spotted holiday makers trying to throw plastic bottles and other stuff into the recycling boxes that permanent residents had placed out for collection.

Grrrrrrrrrr................... Holiday lets that are registered as a business have to pay to have their waste collected.  They have their own bins!

Are holiday makers incapable of reading the info in their holiday let as to where their rubbish should go? Actually, yes, they probably are, because as everyone knows................... holiday makers do not bother to read their information folder, etc., so they just think that they can leave their rubbish wherever they feel like. Why should they worry if they've come on holiday and leave a black bag lying around that the seagulls will rip open and then the rats will nest in. …....Not their problem is it?????

Oh dear..................... this is turning into a 'ranty old BLIP' isn't it?

…...............And car parking???...................... If a holiday maker rents a property that has one parking space; why do they think they can park a car in one of the other spaces just because it's been free for a few hours?? Do they think that the people that actually live here never go out?

….......Oh well, ho hum, by this time next week, the world will have gone back to normal....

PS – My human has just been watching the news and it would seem that weather conditions have cancelled a lot of the Edinburgh celebrations. It's said that 50,000 people will be affected? Assuming that's for the people who have bought ticket's for various events?

Here in St Ives, our population swells from about 10,000 to 40,000 on New Year's Eve and everything is free..................... Apart from the public toilets?!! If you need a wee, it will cost you 40p??!!
