So here we go

Yesterday got the call to be at the hospital at 11:30 to have my bronchioscopy and bring an overnight case as would be an afternoon examination with anaesthetic.

Walked on to ward and shown into a single room. Nurses all marked up, not surprisingly for Lung patients. My bed had a sign 'Nil by Mouth ' also understandable given what is in effect an operation, part of lungs taken out.

So sat about, and sat about and nothing happened. No coffee,  no nothing. No blood pressure taken no person. At 5pm, a knock on the door and a tray of 'food' was brought in by masked nurse.

I asked what was going on.:
"Your evening meal"
What about operation?
"What operation"
Bronchioscopy
"You are in isolation, no operation for 6 days"
Please get me ward doctor.

Eventually doctor came, all gowned up. Your in isolation for 6 days as you may have TB. Seemingly on my CT scan, the radiologists report had said looks like  cancer but could also be this, that, the other including TB. I now needed to give a sputum sample 3 times a day for 6 days!

I said if that was the case, why had I not been told, been on no food & drink all day & not a single drop of any body liquids had been taken from me?

Sorry.

Sorry, I said, grabbed my bag and left! Luckily I had driven myself to the hospital.

PS. Always happens at Memmingen Hospital. As meals choices are made the morning before, on the first day, usually get something somebody has decided would be good for you. My given evening 'menu' shown at the bottom of the photo shows I was to get chicken meat and cheese spread (Philadelphia type). Obviously ward staff didn't like what they could see was being leftover for them and replaced it with salami, slice of cheese and a bonus pike of olives. I don't freely choose salami or olives. Didn't matter, I didn't touch it.
