Tiller head
Went for a quick walk down the canal after work to check on "CJ and the family" all still doing very well but with a few of their own family problems over the past few days. One of which: Pen (Mum) had an injury on her side which was spotted late one evening last week by new friend, and swan fanatic, Claire (who lives in one of the houses right by the towpath). She rang the RSPCA at around 10.30pm and they came out to have a look. They told Claire that they would have to take Pen to see a vet (even at that time of night) and if the injury had become infected Pen would have to be put down. CJ was distraught when Pen was taken away by the RSPCA lady and Claire was too. Claire has known CJ for a long time and curiously CJ seems to trust her. He and the 6 cygnets stayed with her whilst Pen was taken away. The vet who examined her said that the injury was very new and hadn't become infected so Pen had a few injections and was returned to the canal and her family. Claire said the reunion was joyous. Today they all look a picture of health.
I loved this brass bird on the tiller of one of the narrow boats - ALL my other photos were absolute rubbish. Its been mostly a lovely day here with just a few showers on and off - but still quite warm - especially in the office.
Day off tomorrow - I'll look at the ironing basket, amongst other things - perhaps?
ps. Just seen my reflection in the bird....... Oh dear ........ !!
