On This Day

Farewell 2024

Hogmanay already. 2024 seems to me to have been a particularly speedy year. I won’t have the opportunity to share such a convenient blip again so I’m making use of my house number for a second time. On 1st January I blipped the front door and today it’s the turn of the gate at the side of the house. The paint bubbled a bit in the sun when the gate was painted a couple of years ago.  Given the forecast for heavy rain and damaging wind I won't take a camera further afield today.

My Hogmanay plan is to take my grandson swimming and for some lunch. This is his choice instead of the panto which none of the grandchildren was up for. I hope he’ll stay for a sleepover so that he can be my 2025 First Foot.

A good number of New Year events were cancelled yesterday – the weather playing havoc with outdoor gatherings. Luckily I was able to find someone to repair the roof. It came at an eye watering cost but it really wasn't safe. As far as I can make out at this very early hour it's holding fast.

I was sad to read yesterday about Blipper Louise Carr’s death. Look after yourselves blipfriends and stay well. I wish you all a very happy new year and thank you for your company over the past 12 months.

See you next year.
