Behind the Veil

I had the idea of creating a fun image for the first day of the new year tomorrow, but I was in the mood to do it today instead! One of the reasons is that I have developed a cold with a very amusing deep croaky voice due to laryngitis. My nose is getting redder by the minute and will probably be even worse tomorrow!

The title 'Behind the Veil' is symbolic. This has been a year of adaptation for me as I have been very much on my own, seemingly living life behind a veil. There has been a great deal less interaction with others. I have three friends going through life-threatening illnesses, two friends who have died and my weekend and holiday buddy, Jean, is now confined to his home across the lake in neighbouring France,  because of age-related difficulties.

So, I have to reinvent my life and I have already taken out a membership in somethng called Pro Senectute. This is an organization for seniors who desire to remain active and intellectually stimulated!  Anyone over 60 can join. The Newsletter for January shows all the activities on offer: museum visits, meals out, gym classes, etc.   I'm looking forward to taking part in many of the things presented.

The picture is titled 'Still I Rise' and the painting is by Australian artist Loretta Grayson. Such an appropriate title, isn't it!

So, 2025, here I come!
