Can a desert be
too dry? Even a desert
can have a long drought

~carliewired

I had my coffee in the dark. Then I waited for 9 to drive over to the wash to have a look at my mesquite tree. I caught it with the sun at its middle like a beating heart.

I've painted at this location with friends many times. Today, I gave it a critical eye. It was very, very dry. One could say it was parched.

In an average year, Yuma would get most of its annual 4 inches of rain all during monsoon season, June through September. This year, no rain since April. It's not surprising then, that there is little green to be enjoyed on the wash. The colours have changed on the landscape this season.

I'm home today trying to tidy my painting adventure from yesterday. I'm hoping some finishing touches will have it ready for framing. I have to be ready for a mystery quilt event tomorrow, so I must clear the deck.
