New Year's Eve

I've a bowl of Paperwhite narcissi which have grown rather tall but I love the scented flowers.
This evening we've watched the third and final programme in the Royal Institution's Christmas lecture series. This year it was entitled  The Truth about Food and was presented by Chris Van Tulleken. The first programme was about how we digest our food and last night's was concerned with how our cells use the products of digestion to give us energy and build our  tissues.( I had to watch it twice to fully understand all the biochemistry! ) Tonight's was about how we have moved from simple processing of our food to make it edible (eg cooking meat, grinding grain into flour ) to the commercial production of ultra processed food which is now on offer all around us, and the pros and cons of this industrialisation on human health. Almost literally, its been an excellent series of food for thought.
Earlier today we were discussing a plan to go walking in Spain in the spring, along one of the Camino de Santiago routes. More food for thought!

Here's thanking all Blip friends for your friendship and support over the past year and wishing you a happy and healthy 2025.
