The accidental finding

Out with the old....

This saucepan handle came off in my hand while I was pouring very hot butternut squash soup into a bowl! By the grace of god or someone , the soup mostly fell down the gap between the two halves of the large chopping board, and I escaped a scalding.
The pan will now be repurposed.

I worked today, and my colleague came out with me to look at some food hubs, and meet a client whose care I am transferring to her. At the hub I met some ex students of mine from my rehab-teaching days. I was also approached by an ex-colleague from the special school where I worked. She said that she was getting food for her son, now in his 20s. A few years ago, he got a strep throat and this led to him having kidney failure. He now has dialysis every day, and has been taken off the transplant list as 'there have been some failures'. All I could say was, 'I'm so sorry to hear this'. I had no idea that  having a strep throat could have this side-effect. I'm still shocked when i think about this. I tried to talk about her daughter, who was in nursery when I worked there, and the students she's teaching now, who were also in nursery, but oh my....

On the way back, we met a man who was looking for an escaped Jack Russell terrier. My colleague seemed quite upset about this. I put an announcement on the local WhatsApp group, and later heard that the dog had been found.

After the spilled-soup incident, I worked some more, and finally clocked off after 5.30. I prepped some veg, watched a film, and then made supper (hot and four prawns with sweet potatoes and red peppers). Now we're watching TV again. It's quite windy out tonight and I don't have much desire to go anywhere to see in the New Year. Is this the beginning of Being Old?
