... and in with the new!
Happy new year to you all!
I went to bed after the local fireworks seen from our upstairs windows, and the London fireworks on TV (spectacular) and fell asleep almost straight away.
Woke at usual time, slept again, had breakfast, slept again I didn't get up until after 1pm! I showered and dressed, then went for a quick stroll in the cemetery, to look for something new for the new year. I found blossom on the trees! I know it's too early, but the sight gladdened me on a dreich day. A slight drizzle drove me back home again.
I've been missing cosier, non violent programmes on TV, but I found some programmes about Agatha Christie on PBS America, and settled down on the sofa. Then I discovered that I can get PBS on the laptop (ad-free on Duck Duck Player) and now I'm watching The Amish: Shunned. I've never met an Amish member, but I knew a woman who made quilts in the Pennsylvania Dutch style, and talked about Pennsylvania Dutch influences, which I'd never heard of. I would ask her now, if I still knew her, if she ever had a connection to Amish people. It's not the life for me, but I'm learning a lot from the documentary.
