New Year's Eve morning came in bright and very crisp.  

A couple of errands in the morning that took us over and back on the Hawthorne Bridge.  The way back coincided with one of the span lifts (extra, you can just about see it coming down), they have to do these several times a day whether there's a ship passing through or not just to keep the wheels greased.  It takes a while and is pretty fascinating I think.  I've always wondered about the bridge tenders and I found several old videos about them on youtube, this one I rather liked.
